Sophia's favorite commercial

Whenever this commercial comes on TV Sophia stops in her tracks and starts dancing. She loves the beat.

Visitors

This weekend Auntie B. Sue came up to visit. We had a great time watching the soccer game and just hanging out. She offered to babysit Saturday night and Chris and I didn't blink once before we dropped her off for the evening. Sophia did well. She just protested when B. Sue tried to put her to sleep and when she got woken up by B. Sue giggling loudly.

We had fun hanging out my the pool and having a few beers with some of Chris' family. Chris' dad, uncle, and cousin were talking about the good old days and how they tortured the younger brother. This is why we are not having more than one :) The crap they put that kid through was awful.

All in all a good weekend except I got a cold and I think I gave it to Sophia. Poor baby. An ear infection and now a cold :(

Getting better

Sophia is on antibiotics for her ear infection and the fever that came along with teething. Tell me why do they make you give a baby such a big dose at one time? Really the whole dropper? You can't concentrate that stuff just a little? Needless to say, everything is pink now. The bedsheets, the blankets, her clothes, our clothes. Do they add the red on purpose just to stain everything? Do they have a contract with the stain remover people? I smell a conspiracy.

Of course Sophia doesn't want to take the antibiotics. The princess won't even take a bottle unless it is the right temperature. We should start calling her Goldilocks. Three times a day, this turns into a huge fight to get her to take them, she spits them out, the red travels everywhere and stains everything in sight. Just choke the crap down. I know it is bad, but you are making it so much worse. I tried the towel under her, but that red dye has a mind of its own and still got onto the sheets. I can't wait until this is over.
I got this lovely picture off of Google images so you can all be reminded of the bubblegum medicine of death.

I guess I am out of the running for mom of the year

So my child that I wanted to sell, was getting sick. Hello!!! I should have seen that coming. She is teething. Last night she woke up at 3am and started screaming ans couldn't be consoled :( Poor baby. Today she was playing with her toys and just keeled over and fell asleep for two hours right there on the floor. Red flags Erin. There is something wrong. I took her to the doctor and she has an ear infection and a 102 degree fever.
We got her the good drugs and hopefully she will feel better soon. My poor baby.

Child for sale

Slightly used. Original owner. 10 months old. 22 pounds. Good condition.

Sophia is driving me NUTS!!!! Seriously I don't know how you SAHMs do it. Her two upper teeth are coming in and she is cranky and clingy. If I set her down she immediately screams, not whimper or cry, but blood curdling screams (I think the neighbors are going to call CPS). I tried the wrap. HAHAHAHAHA like that is going to work. She wants to be on my hip and that is all. Then she wants to hang on me but when she is on my lap, she digs her toenails into my thighs. She gets all 22 pounds into that one foot and it hurts.

I know that this will all change soon and she will want nothing to do with me, but there is only so much I can take. That is all for my rant.

EaRtHqUaKe!!!!

Yes we had an earthquake today. 4.0 centered under Loma Linda so of course we felt it. It was one big jolt and that was it. Kind of disappointing for an earthquake, but cool none the less. This was not Sophia's first earthquake. There was a little one we felt that was centered in Devore when she was about two months old. So it was an exciting morning.

Sophia's upper teeth are coming in. More and more are coming through every day. Here is a picture. It was the best I could do because she does not want to open up and she always wants to eat the camera.

Irish Fair and standing

Today we went to the Irish Fair (yes that is Chis in a kilt). It was so hot that we didn't stay long. We were disappointed because we wanted to see the Finians :( Oh well. We went to lunch with Granny Nancy and Auntie B. Sue.
When we got home, Sophia decided that she was going to start standing for more than a few seconds. This is the longest she has stood on her own. It was just luck that the one good one we got on tape she decided to clap too :) (It is a dark video, but you can tell what is going on)

Seattle Aquarium

We went to the Seattle Aquarium. Sophia loved seeing all of the fish and other sea life. The things that moved around the most (the octopus, the seals, otters) were the most intersting. She got right in there and toched the starfish. She was facinated by the jellyfish that swam around in an O tank that you could walk through. Overall, we had a great day.

Watching the seals.

Riding the Ducks

We did the total touristy thing and rode the ducks through Seattle and on Lake Union. These boat truck things go on the land and in the water. We first took a tour of all of the spots in Seattle. Then we went onto Lake Union and saw the city skyline and the floating houseboats.

If you want to buy the Sleepless in Seattle houseboat, it is up for sale. $2 million dollars. What a steal.

Father's Day 2008

Fountains that shot water every couple of minutes. Sophia loves them. She would giggle every time it shot water. I see us spending a lot of our days at Victoria Garden :)

Sophia in the rock scuplture at the fountain park (click on the pictures to make them bigger) On the ferry back to Seattle. You can see the skyline in the background
This was right at the port before we docked to get off of the ferry.
All in all, we had a great day driving around the islands and the suburbs of Seattle. Sophia loved the ferry ride back to the city.

Here are some pictures

We had a great time at the Space Needle. It was a sunny day so we got to see a lot. Sophia loved looking over the edge. Chris' best line of the day. "I can see the Lakers losing from here!" It was so funny

We made it

We made it to Seattle. Sophia did so well on the plane. She didn't cry at all. She even slept for about 45 minutes (which is a long nap for Sophia). We got in around nine in the morning and made it to our hotel. We went to see some of the sights of Seattle. We went to the Space Needle and went to the top. That was an amazing view. We are going back later tonight to see the view at night. Tomorrow we are off to go explore the burbs :) I will post pictures when I am on my home computer.

10 months old

Today Sophia is ten months old. I cannot believe that she is that old. Time goes way too fast. Today was my last day of work until the end of August!!! Yeah for being out for the summer. Tomorrow we are going up to Seattle. I hope I packed everything that we need. I will post pictures when I get back!!

9 month pictures

We just got Sophia's nine month pictures back. They turned out cute. I love the one with the feet (of course). These pink Chrucks were one of the first things that Chris bought Sophia after we found out we were a having a girl. The bear in the pictures is an organic bear that my mother got me for my baby shower. Sophia is on love with that thing. That was one of the first things she started giving kisses to.

Upper teeth and talking away

We can see Sophia's two upper teeth coming through. You can just see little nubs poking through. No wonder she has been so cranky and waking up in the middle of the night. We are buying stock in Dr. Hylands. We are going through the teething tablets and teething gel so fast that Clark's and Kissui can't keep it in stock :) It works, so we will go anywhere to get it.

Sophia also has a couple of "words." Dada of course (Chris coached the crap out of her on that one). Baba is bottle and wawa is dog. Martha, the babysitter, has a little dog and there are a couple of dogs in her neighborhood that Sophia sees on the way to school. She loves the wawas. We went over to Sarah's for a playdate and Sophia was fixated on the wawas :)

Sophia is giving kisses to everything and everyone. She also makes a cute "muahhh" sound when she kisses. She does it to her hippo in the car as we are driving. It is the cutest thing ever.

Kiddie Pool

We got Sophia a kiddie pool so she could splash around on the patio rather than luggin everything to the pool everyday this summer. She tested it out today and she loved it. She was splashing away :) We gave her some of her bath toys to play with. We have to get some pool toys. She was doing this butt scoot thing where she would turn in circles on her butt. It was so cute.

Only four more half days left of work and I get to be home with my baby all day :) Let's see how happy I am about it in a month or two hehe.

***I know I need a pedi, but give me a break, I have to wear real shoes to work. Once I am out I will be the flop wearing girl we all know and love :)***

Here are some more feet

Baby Feet

We have photographed Sophia's feet since she was born. Don't know why, but we think it is cute. Here are some pictures so far. As she gets older, she isn't cooperating as much as she once did.

Just talking away

Sophia says dadadada and she looks for Chris when she says it. We don't know if she realizes that dada is Chris or he just responds everytime she says it. She is also having conversations with her stuffed animals. She just chats away.

We are getting ready to go on our vacation. We are trying to make sure that we get everything that we need for Sophia. I hope we pack enough :)

We are off to get some fruit from the co-op.

New teeth?

We think that Sophia is getting some new teeth. She is drooling all over the place again. She is also Mrs. Cranky Pants, so we hope it is teething and not her new personality. When I put teething gel on her upper gums, I thought I could feel some bumps there, but I do not know for sure because she fought me the whole time. She is also refusing to sleep. She falls to sleep and then wakes up screaming. I think she is down for a little while but I don't want to jinx myself. Only a few more school days left and I am off for the summer and we are going on vacation to Seattle. I need a vacation badly.

Yummy!!!

Even though we have tried to instill bad habits in our young child, she has already rebelled against us :) Hehe. We went out to eat tonight and we had Sophia in her chair at the table. She loves that thing. We gave her rice, peas, and carrot pieces from our dinner. She hoovered the peas and carrots and left the rice. Come on baby, carbs are soooo good (even though they are the devil). She also would rather drink out of a cup rather than a bottle or a sippy cup. She can't hold it yet, but if you do it, she will drink out of the cup. I don't know what to do with this child, once I figure out one thing, she is off to the next. SLOW DOWN!!!!

Walking and kisses

Today we went to get Sophia's 9 month pictures taken (a little late, but at least we got them done) We got some good pictures, but she seems to do better when we take her picture. She hams it up for the camera. When we got home, Sophia was using her ride along walker to walk across the living room. She will be walking on her own in no time. Our little girl is growing up so fast. Then we finally got her giving kisses on film.
