Hat day

From day one Sophia has never wanted anything on her hard. She would rip off anything we would try to put on her. Not hats, headbands, bows, etc. Today she comes out of her room with her hat on. We were leaving and I tried to take it off so we would not lose it. She freaked out and wanted to take her hat with her. Maybe we can add hats to the bows we have to buy :)

Park Day

We had a fun day at the park. Sophia loves to swing and she likes the big swing, but she cannot go as high as she can on the baby swing. She loves the slide as well. The one at this park has bumps in the slide and she loved it. Stephanie brought bubbles, which was a huge hit with all of the kids.

Finally

Sophia finally has enough hair to put into a tiny palm tree. We have always been jealous of the babies that had a full head of hair when they left the hospital. It has taken us almost a year and a half to get this little bit of hair. Hey we will take what we can get. Both Chris and I did not have hair when we were toddlers, so I don't know why we thought Sophia would be any different :)

Caco

Sophia loves eating avacado. She calls it caco. Chris was trying to eat some avocado and Sophia saw him and started screaming "eat caco, eat caco." Her vocabulary is stteadly growing and becoming more complex. I can't believe my little girl is gowing up so fast.

Mom in the hospital

UPDATE - Mom is going to have her gall bladder out on Monday.

Here is a video of a gall bladder surgery.

Friday I got a call at work saying that my mother was being taken to the hospital and that she was clammy and sweaty and could not stand up. So I rushed over to the hospital. They diagnosed her with gall stones and she has to have her gall bladder out. The stones bruised her pancreas and that was what was causing all of the pain. Her enzymes are off of the charts and have to level out before she can have the surgery. So it might be a few days. She cannot eat or drink anything until after the surgery. So I think I will steer clear after a few days of her not being able to eat :( It might be rough in that hospital room.

She was on her way to a field trip with her kindergarten class and she made the bus turn around. They called the ambulance and took her right over to the hospital. Good thing I was on half day yesterday and it was my conference period :) Oh well, I guess the grading will get done next week.

Hair Fairy

Sophia finally has enough hair to have a bad hair day. She woke up this morning and she had this lovely hair do going on. So cute. I am so excited that she has hair!!! Finally Now we need enough hair to put it into cute pig tails and bows :)

Stroller

Sophia has become very independent in her old age :) She does not want to be in the stroller or the shopping cart anymore. She wants to push the stroller and the shopping cart herself. Since we are on half days this week, I had a chance to run over to Target after work and a lot of their toys were 50-75% off. So I got Sophia her own stroller that she could push around. At least she can actually see over this one. She has been pushing it all around the house. Chris is going to love it when he gets home from work.

Chris' job is sending him to a new job site. Citrus Valley High School. Can you believe that. A couple blocks away. And he does not have to be there until 6:30. That means he gets to sleep in and not wake me up at 4 in the morning...YEAH!!!!

Weather

I wish the weather would decide what it wants to do. The last week or so it was around 80 degrees. A few weeks ago there were a few days with highs in the 40s. No it is raining. People who are coming to visit always ask what is the weather going to be like in such and such a month. There is no way to tell. One day it can be 40 and the next day it might be 80. Please weather make up your mind :)

Throw a shoe at Bush

I read a blogThe Pregnant Bitch that informed me that today was Throw Your Shoe at Bush Day. So here is our contribution to the cause :)

My shoe is for the unnecessary war that he has put us in and that has taken many many lives. Chris' shoe is for the downturn in the economy that has slowed down the glazier industry which means less work for him. And Sophia's shoe is for all of the children who were born into an era of war.

One good thing is that Sophia will not understand the office of the president until she is older and by then she will only know Obama as president.

Beach Day

We all had the day off for MLK day and we decided to go to the beach and hang out. Sophia was not into the sand sticking to her hands or feet so she insisted her sandals be on. She loves making sand castles and "jumping" over the waves. It was nice in the morning, there was some cloud cover so it was about 75, but the clouds burned off and it warmed up to about 83. We had such a great time and we got to hang out with Sophia all day.

Playdate with Grace

Grace came over today to play. The girls are eight months apart and they both call each other baby. It is so cute. They had fun in the playhouse and outside playing with the bubbles. Grace was very concerned that Sophia went in the backyard with no shoes on. At Grace's house, there are stickers in the backyard, so you have to have shoes on or you will get hurt :) We had such a fun time.

Sophia has mastered the slide

We had a family playdate at the park today. We had a great time with all of our friends. Sophia mastered the slide today. Before she would just want to run off the top and she thought that would work. Needless to say, we had a few slide mishaps. I thought she would be scarred for life and never want to go down the slide again. Today, she went and climbed up to the top all by herself and I only had to tell her once to sit down before she went down the slide. She was so proud of herself. I can't believe our little baby is mastering all of these skills. It seems like yesterday I brought her home from the hospital.

We are also forming a new SA (Swingers Anonymous) group for all of the toddlers that refuse to swing in moderation. I think we have a few members that have fallen off of the wagon (ahem ahem Sophia, Hayden, Zach). That's right I told on my own daughter. It is only out of love :)

Poor Baby

Sophia has not been doing well the last couple of days. The Santa Ana winds are out of control and the wind is whipping up everything in the air. This is the first time that the winds have been this bad since we moved to the new house. I didn't realize that we lived in a cement fortress when we are at the apartment, but now we have the huge pollen producer in the front yard. So we think Sophia has allergies because her eyes and nose are a constant faucet. We don't think it is a cold or ear infection because she is not showing any signs of those.

The last few days she has asked to go "nigh nigh" and to "re bo" (book) at 5:00 or earlier. She doesn't even want a bath. We know something is not right when she does not want to play with her bath toys or her bubbles. Hopefully the wind will die down and we will get our little girl back.

Fall Foliage

The infamous Santa Ana winds are back and it is really warm outside. (Really can we not have any fires please) We were sick of being couped up inside so we went out to the front to play in the leaves. We also wanted to try the night feature on the new camera. The pictures turned out alright, especially since you really couldn't see what you were taking a picture of. Sophia loves to play in the leaves. She mostly just throws them around and stomps through them to make the crunching sound. We will have to rake them into a pile and let her run through it :)

Bounce House

Sophia went in a bounce house for the first time today. She was a little scared at first because she couldn't really stand up. Once she got the hang of it, she was so in love with it. She does her little baby bounce where her feet never come up but she bends her knees to bounce. She of course wanted to play with the older kids but they could really bounce and she was not so sure footed. She threw a fit when we took her out of the bounce house. It looks like we will have to get one of these for upcoming birthdays.

Happy Birthday Chris

We dropped the baby off with grandma last night so we could go out for Chris' birthday. We started out at the Moose and had a great time. We drank and played some beer pong. While at the Moose, there was a 4.5 earthquake centered right under San Bernardino. Then we were off to the Hus. Happy 27th birthday Chris!!!

Bubbles

We bought this bubble machine back in the summer but Sophia didn't like it because of the motor noise. So we pulled it out a few days ago and all she wants is her bubbles. When we stop the machine she signs more and says "mo bubbles mo bubbles."

Chik-fil-a playhouse

We had a playdate at the Chik-fil-a playhouse today. Sophia was a little daredevil. She climbed right to the top of the playhouse. she had one spill coming down the steps. She thought that they were real steps, but they were too big for her to step down and she took a tumble. It scared her for a minute until she saw all of the other kids on the slide and then she was fine again. She figured out that she had to scoot down the stairs and then she was fine after that.

Playhouse

Sophia is in love with her playhouse. During the break she would make breakfast on her stove and bring it to us to eat. She loves to talk on her phone and make food in her pots that Aunt Kelly got her. Watching her play in the playhouse is worth going out on Black Friday and braving the crowds.

MMMM Olives

Sophia has discovered olives and how fun they are when you eat them off your fingers. We have to regulate how many she eats because she will eat the whole can if we let her.

Happy New Year 2009

We rang in the new year by eating blueberries on the playhouse picnic table. We watched the Rose Parade from the comfort of our home. All throughout my childhood, my mother would take us to the Rose Parade. We would have to wake up at three in the morning and drive down to Pasadena. We would have to fight the drunk sleeping people for a place on the street to watch the parade. We would sit so far down the parade route that the parade that started at 8 would not get to us until 9:30. Then we would have to drive home. It really was not fun at all. It was always cold (well cold for California). So when we got older, we protested and refused to go.
We then did some gardening in the backyard and Sophia loved to "help" clean up the plants. She made her own pile inside of the house. It was a nice treat to clean up. She also loves to dig in the mud, so by the time we were done, she was a filthy mess. Oh well, she is still cute :)
